What are Propellant Systems?

Through the acquisition of Enhanced Energetics, we offer two propellant systems: GasGun and Kraken.

GasGun progressively burning propellant generates high-pressure gas which creates fractures that extend deep into the formation to improve productivity or injectivity. GasGun propellant-enhanced stimulation is proven to lower the total cost of operations and improve the profitability of open and cased hole producing and injection wells.

Kraken combines progressively burning, solid propellant boosters with conventional perforating systems to increase penetration, eliminate clogged perforations and overcome compaction caused by traditional perforators.

GasGun™

Propellant Stimulation

The GasGun system uses progressively burning propellant to fracture deep into the formation. It can be shot in wells with existing perforations, slotted liners, or even open hole. GasGun is commonly used in conventional injectors and producers to bypass near wellbore damage and increase effective wellbore radius. This can replace — or improve the effectiveness of — acidization or small to medium sized frac jobs.

Kraken™

Propellant Enhanced Perforating

Integrated into standard perforating guns, Kraken’s progressively burning solid propellant boosters generate controlled, high-pressure gas within perforation tunnels creating fractures and extending connectivity into the reservoir. This boosts penetration depth, clears clogged perforations, and mitigates near-wellbore damage.

Perforate and stimulate in one tool. Break down every perforation. Lower treating pressures and improve pumping rates. Ideal for conventional and saltwater disposal wells, including prior to acidization.
